On November 23, 2022, the 17m intelligent gear shift ship successfully passed the completion acceptance organized by the Port and Shipping Development Center of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transport.

The ship is of the single bottom, single deck, and transverse frame type, with a main scale of 15.90 meters x 4.80 meters x 2.10 meters x 1.20 meters (length x width x depth x design draft). It is propelled by dual engine dual jet pumps and equipped with a remote-controlled fire monitor on the roof deck.

The ship has applied the intelligent navigation system (communication system, perception system, control system, shore based control station) of 5G communication technology to official vessels, which is the first of its kind in China.

In addition to the basic functions of a gear shifting ship, the intelligent navigation system carried by this intelligent gear shifting ship can also achieve eight intelligent functions, including unmanned autonomous cruising on designated routes, remote control of manual driving and firefighting on shore, automatic obstacle avoidance on and underwater surfaces, remote control of key equipment, auxiliary navigation and route speed optimization, one click power on and off, manual driving and intelligent navigation key conversion, and autonomous learning ability.

The research and construction of this ship is an important exploration and practice to fully build the "Jiangsu Smart Navigation Channel". After being put into use, it will further enhance the waiting order management of the Yangtze River Mouth Gate Lock - Mangdao Lock, provide better services for the vast number of boat people, and also provide a successful example for the development and cross disciplinary application of intelligent ships.
